The Power of Questioning

I've heard of how helpless babies are, but for me they have the strongest defence weapon, the love of their parents. They say that everything is new with the first baby, I have two and I got everything new twice. Cami and Anya seem to come from different worlds.

A flower will grow when it's time comes, if you water it too much, it will drown, if you pull it up it will loose its roots. Our relationship is based on trust, I trust them as much as they trust me and we practice mutual respect. We respect our tastes, preferences, we respect our times, we respect ourselves.

Being a mom is what defines my life, my girls are what define me, and many times they are more than girls, are my masters.
— Ana Sofía, VIVA Green Bar

The day our first daughter was born in Australia was the day I started questioning, I was asked to:

  • Sign a document carrying out my responsibility for offering Formula Milk to my newborn.
  • Sign a document carrying out my responsibility for letting her get her first vaccine shots.

These questions stayed in the back of my head, It wasn’t clear if it was my imagination, if I was being paranoid for not wanting to offer a bottle or Panadol on her first fever or just not wanting to spray conventional baby lotion all over her!!!

One day, while choosing which Formula brand to buy, I asked myself, how is it that a baby who has never eaten anything in this world could digest powder that comes in a can and has been prepared by a machine??? Then I read the ingredients... Luckily her instincts did not fail and she never accepted it, that was the first thing she knew and I did not.  And so, research became a big part of my job, usually late at night.

I wanted to share what I have learnt all these years, and that’s how Viva Green Bar, a bio restaurant was born, a rolling trailer that started in Australia going from south to north, from festival to festival. Then it moved to Perú and is now serving people in Arequipa, Perú with Juices, Nut Mylks, Vegan Food and Organic desserts.

My girls are a big part of the kitchen; they chop, peel, wash and taste, it's like a game for them and for me.

We put together a very simple, quick and nutritious recipe for you!
